Winner, Blackpool Fylde & Wyre Branch Pub of the Year 2016 - The Thatched House

Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre CAMRA members have chosen The Thatched House, Poulton-le-Fylde as their Pub of the Year for 2016. The presentation of the award was made in front of a packed house by Branch Pubs Officer Rick Pickup, who said "At the Branch Meeting (where the POTY is elected), The Thatched was the winner by a considerable margin." He went on to relate a tale about the organiser of the enormous Nottingham CAMRA Beer Festival, visiting Poulton and being impressed by the standard of pubs in general and The Thatched in particular. "If the pub can impress the organiser of a massive festival like that, it must be doing something right." He concluded by wishing The Thatched the best of luck in the Lancashire Pub Of The Year contest, to which it now progresses.

Landlord Vin Hamer was delighted to receive the award, having declared his intention to do so when the pub won a POTY Silver award in 2014. He thanked the CAMRA Branch members for voting for his pub, and paid tribute to Andy Booker of Lytham Brewery. "Without Andy's help I couldn't source the range of excellent guest ales that we sell," he said.

The Thatched has 10 hand-pumps, selling a good variety of ale styles, all in excellent condition. Beers from the on-site Chapel Street Brewhouse are naturally given pride of place, but an impressive range of guests is always available.
